Gatherings at Pastime Farm

There’s something magical about gathering with a small group in a private setting. For that reason, in-person events take place at my home in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our historic farmhouse (circa 1890) and surrounding acreage have been lovingly restored to accommodate in-person gatherings —including daylong workshops, weekend retreats, and personal retreats. How does a small hobby farm support our get-togethers? In myriad ways that are unseen yet powerfully felt. One of the more obvious forms of support is in farm-to-table nourishment. Our chef creates delicious vegetarian meals often sourced from our garden, orchard, chickens, bees, and olive trees. The menu is planned with consideration to what’s in season as well as food sensitivities. After lunch, it’s often difficult to leave the back dining porch and we haven’t always returned indoors for the afternoon teaching.

Ways to Visit

  • Daylong Workshops

Don’t miss your opportunity to gather for a single day. Tea and coffee service are provided, as well as brunch provided by our chef.

  • Weekend Retreats

Come together for a weekend to explore a particular topic. Our agenda offers plenty of free time for recuperation and reconnection.

  • Long-Term Circles

Founded in 2017, the circle has a hybrid format: meeting online monthly and on-land annually for their weekend retreat.

Stay Awhile

Periodically a woman needs the space and place for a self-guided retreat—whether it be to meditate, write, create, replenish, or reconnect. Sometimes, she’ll want to bring a friend. In either case, we take care of the physical support so you can focus on reconnecting.

Pastime Farm is periodically available for personal retreats. Stay in our guest cottage while engaging in your choice of self-guided silence, meditation, writing, hiking, and/or favorite book reading. The 700-square-foot guest cottage has two adjoining rooms (each with a Queen bed and bathroom). If you prefer solitary retreat, then it’s all yours. If you bring a friend, then the privacy door between both spaces can be locked. In either case, homemade-from-scratch meals will be delivered to your door three times daily. Everything is organic and vegetarian—primarily from our garden, orchard, chickens, and olive trees. You’ll select your preferences ahead of time, so we don’t disturb your solitude.

Mary Oliver, When I am Among the Trees:

“Around me, the trees stir in their leaves and call out, ‘Stay awhile.’ The light flows from their branches. And they call again, ‘It’s simple,’ they say, ‘and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine.’”
